Lucy Liu: Why she kicks ass

• She is a talented actress, model, artist and film producer.
• Some of the movies she has been in include: Kung Fu Panda, Kill Bill, Charlie’s Angels and Chicago.
• She was nominated for a  Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role in Ally McBeal.
• For her role in the series Southland she won Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Drama Guest Actress.
• In 2008 she starred in the TV show Cashmere Mafia, this show was one of only a few American television shows to have an Asian American series lead.
• Currently she is portraying the character Joan Watson in the TV show Elementary.
• She holds a bachelor’s degree in Asian languages and cultures.
• She has appeared in the TV shows Ugly Betty, Sex And The City, Futurama and The Simpsons.
• In 1989 she was a member of the Basement Arts student-run theater group and auditioned for the University of Michigan’s production of Alice in Wonderland during her senior year of college and was cast as the lead role, although she had originally tried out for only a supporting part.
• She made her New York stage debut in Fairy Bones, directed by Tina Chen in 1992.
  
• In August 2011, she became a narrator for the musical group The Bullitts.

• She has had several gallery shows for her art works using collage, paintings, and photography.
• She attended the New York Studio School for drawing, painting and sculpture from 2004 to 2006.
• In September 2006, Lucy Liu held an art show and donated her share of the profits to UNICEF.

• Her painting “Escape” was incorporated into Montblanc’s Cutting Edge Art Collection and was shown during Art Basel Miami 2008.
• She donated a portion of the proceeds from selling her art book Seventy Two in London to UNICEF.
• In 2001 she was the spokesman for the Lee National Denim Day fundraiser, which raises funds for breast cancer research and education.
• In 2004 she was appointed an ambassador for U.S. Fund for UNICEF.
• She hosted an MTV documentary, Traffic, for the MTV EXIT campaign in 2007.
  
• She produced and narrated the short film, The Road to Traffik, about the Cambodian heroine Somaly Mam in 2008. 
• She received an “Asian Excellence Award” for Visibility in 2006. 
• In 2011 she became a spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign.

This is the clearest lake in the world. And a very fine lake it is. Klaus Thymann captured this and other stunning photos of New Zealand’s Blue Lake, 95% as clear as distilled water. Its source is filtered by mountain rocks and it’s above the treeline, so it misses out on most runoff.
